TOKYO — Actress Aya Ueto, 23, walked down the aisle at Elysion House in Aoyama this week, showing off two wedding dresses from the second round of her bridal range “U AYA UETO DRESSES.”

Ueto modeled two dresses she had a hand in designing – one a black and white tartan number complimented with a light pink floral motif, the other a more traditional white dress but with an interesting head piece and lapel design. The two dresses are part of the new collection of 10 designs marketed under the concept of “Adult Cute.”

Ueto said that she is wearing wedding dresses more and more in her acting work these days, and that she has started to want to wear one for real. She said she hopes her dream of getting married in her 20s comes to fruition, but that there was no special man in her life right now. She also said: “I want the kind of pure love you see in Korean dramas. The kind that set my heart racing when I was in junior high.”

HONG KONG — Model Yuri Ebihara, 29, was in Hong Kong on the weekend to promote her “f*ing MOTESTO” line of stockings – an item which led to a rise in Chinese interest in the popular model after they went on sale in Shanghai last year.

The Hong Kong launch is the second crack by “Ebi-chan” at the emerging Chinese market, and she attended several events held at a new fashion building called JET STORE over the weekend. Ebihara greeted the crowd in Cantonese and fans shouted back in Japanese “We love you!” and “You’re the best Ebi-chan!”

Ebihara urged everybody to get their hands on a pair of her stockings, and recommended that people get a full-body mirror to check their fashion before going out

TOKYO — Celebrity Yuko Ogura, 25, attended a commemorative event this week celebrating sales of three million copies of the travel book series “Tabi no Sashi Kaiwacho” (Travel Handbook of Finger Pointing) at Tokyo’s Marunouchi Oazo.

The popular series allows travelers to communicate overseas simply by pointing at illustrations and words in the book, and currently covers 78 countries. At the event, a limited edition “Korin Seigo Version” (Korin Star Language Verison) was unveiled, where all words in the edition contained the suffix “rinko” or “pu.” Ogura, popularly known as Yukorin, and “talent” “Miracle Hikaru,” 29, carried out a “conversation” in the language, much to the amusement of the crowd. “These books are perfect for traveling abroad. Everyone here should give it a tryrinko,” Ogura said.

TOKYO — Actress Meisa Kuroki, 21, let the press in for a glimpse of her voice-recording work recently for the upcoming sci-fi movie “Assault Girls,” directed by Mamoru Oshii, 57. Kuroki plays a gun-toting hunter who along with her sexy sidekicks, Rinko Kikuchi, 28, and Hinako Saeki, 32, fight off a hoard of deadly sand beasts which have flourished in the aftermath of a nuclear war in the not too distant future.

Kuroki said she enjoyed the recording of her English lines, which make up about 90% of her script, after Oshii told her not to worry about pronouncing them like a native speaker.

On the filming of the desert battle scenes with the giant “sand whales” which will be digitally added in the coming months, she said: “I had to imagine the fight, and honestly, I wasn’t really sure what I was doing.”

She rode on a wave of notoriety for her 10 siblings and impoverished upbringing, but on this day she pushed cups of ice cream that cost 350 yen each.

Even so, Uehara said she had never been to Ginza for anything but work, explaining “I don’t really fit here in Ginza. It smells too much like rich people. Mmm, I wonder what I should do.. this ice cream is the best!”

Sources say this was Uehara’s first time working at a PR event for a luxury brand product.
